Discover a world of sharing and borrowing right here in Llandrindod Wells at the 'Library of Things'
Benthyg (pronounced ben-thig) means 'to borrow' in Welsh. We're on a mission to get the word Benthyg as popular as cwtch!
DONATE: Share the items you no longer need, giving them a new purpose
CONNECT: Engage with fellow community members, exchanging knowledge and skills
Why BORROW not BUY?
* It's environmentally friendly - reduces waste and lowers our carbon footprint
* You will be promoting a more sustainable way of living by sharing resources
* It's cost-effective - Saves you money instead of buying new! We try and make borrowing affordable by only charging a small fee to borrow items
* Need a tool for a one off job? Sometimes you only need things once so it's cheaper to borrow than buy
* Community building - the Library of Things is all about bringing the community together to share resources, share ideas, skills and knowledge. We'd love YOU to get involved!
* It's easy to get signed up - just click here or click REGISTER at the top of this page. You must be 18 years or older to register, and have a valid email address.
* The first time you borrow something and come to collect your item you will need to provide photo ID e.g. a passport/ drivers licence and proof of address e.g. a utility bill. We only need to see this once.
* We will also ask you to sign a copy of the Borrowers Terms & Conditions and Liability Waiver.
* Membership is FREE to individuals - we just charge a small amount to borrow items
* If you're joining on behalf of a business or a community group, there is a small annual membership fee
* We want to ensure that Benthyg Llandrindod is as accessible as possible to everyone in our community so please do contact us with any questions about registration, membership or borrowing costs. We have created a concession membership for borrowers who might not otherwise be able to afford the borrowing fees due to unemployment, receiving government support or being on a low income. If your situation isn't listed here but you'd like to borrow then pop in and have a chat with us, give us a call 01597 824616 or email: info@llandrindodfamilies.co.uk
* We love having new volunteers onboard so if you're interested in getting involved please get in touch - our volunteers don't pay borrowing fees!

* Browse our online catalogue
* If you see something you want to borrow then reserve your item (you can choose what day you want to collect Monday-Friday)

We try to keep our borrowing costs as low as possible - depending on the type of item you borrow or what condition it is in, the fees will vary. If you think we're charging too much (or too little!) for an item then let us know. Item fees are listed next to the item on the catalogue.
Absolutely! We're always trying to improve Benthyg Llandrindod and widen our library to include items people want to borrow. If you have you something you no longer need that you think others would like to borrow then please drop it in to The Hive during our opening hours. You can donate anything useful and in good condition e.g. camping equipment, garden games, decorations, fancy dress, tools, games...
Unfortunately the actual room where we store all of our 'things' isn't open to the passing public to come and browse BUT everything is listed on our online catalogue for you to reserve. We will get your items ready for you to collect on your chosen day from The Hive, Temple Chambers, South Crescent, Llandrindod Wells, LD1 5DH.
We look forward to meeting you!
